The Executive Chairman of Ifako/Ijaye Local Council Development Authority (LCDA), Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH), has intensified the repair of bad roads in the council area. The chairman, in collaboration with the Lagos State government, has deployed equipment and personnel from the Direct Labour of the state’s works department to rehabilitate damaged spots of major inner roads linking rural settlements to the city of Ikeja.

Major inner-city routes on the outskirts of the LCDA connecting border communities towards Ogun State, have been receiving speedy attention in the past four weeks. The road from the Haruna axis to Obawole that has broken down at different spots is being filled and repaired by the personnel of the works department. Commuters and drivers are beginning to be relieved of slow movement and momentary hold up at those spots. The workers are moving fast and have approached the Obawole Bridge as of Saturday, filling and raising the deepening slope at the Haruna end.

The workers are expected to progress into Obawole in the new week.

However, the Asabi Taiwo alternative route to Jo-jo is in bad form and causing great discomfort for drivers and passengers. Also, the road on the power from Obawole to Ishaga through Omonile has been worn off for years. It is expected that the state government or the Ifako/Ijaye LCDA would consider immediate actions on these routes, and several other streets that need attention.

The Ifako/Ijaiye Executive Chairman, Usman Akanbi Hamzat, has also been religiously implementing the HEEDS Agenda he drafted during the local government electioneering campaign.

The HEEDS represents policies on health, sports and environment, education and technology, empowerment of youth, women and the aged, development of infrastructures, sustainable initiatives, good governance, and security.

The HEEDS Agenda encapsulates the chairman’s five development indicators for the governance and development of the seven wards in Ifako/Ijaye LCDA. Government Area.
