Chelsea have completed a £25m transfer Robert Sanchez from Brighton. National Daily learnt that the deal is inclusive of add-ons and a sell-on clause.
Sanchez’s transfer has seen the north Londoners completing double transfers within 24 hours following the arrival of defender Axel Disasi from Monaco on Friday.
Sanchez has completed a £25m transfer from Brighton to Chelsea in a seven-year deal
The 25-year-old Spaniard will provide cover and competition for compatriot, Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The deal will Sanchez remain at Stamford Bridge for at least the next seven years.
Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, have maintained: “We’re very pleased to welcome Robert to Chelsea and he adds further quality to our goalkeeping unit.
“Robert has repeatedly proved himself in the Premier League and been capped by his country. We are excited to watch him work with Mauricio [Pochettino] and his coaching team during the season ahead.”
Edouard Mendy’s departure to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli earlier this summer has prompted Chelsea to strengthen their goalkeeping options.
Sanchez, who came through Brighton’s academy had made a total of 90 appearances for the Seagulls. The 25-year-old has also enjoyed two international caps for Luis de la Fuente’s side.
Disappointingly, Sanchez lost his place last season to the Italian Jason Steele under new manager, Roberto De Zerbi.
Thankfully, Sanchez will reunite with his former goalkeeping coach at Brighton, Ben Roberts, who is also at Chelsea.
The goalkeeper becomes Chelsea’s seventh summer signing following the arrivals of Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo and Diego Moreira.
