The Yangbaoshan grand bridge, which stretches 1,112 meters in length, is part of the Guiyang-Huangping Highway.
When it is finally opened to traffic, it will shorten travel time between Guiyang and Huangping from 5 hours to just 1.2 hours.
Ahead of official opening, forty-eight (48) large trucks with a total of 1,680 tonnes of goods were parked on the new Yangbaoshan bridge to test the construction quality and mechanical properties of its structure.
Aerial photo taken on Nov. 30, 2021 shows the four dozen large truck on the Yangbaoshan bridge during a static load test in Guiding County, southwest China’s Guizhou Province.
With a main span of 650 meters, the Yangbaoshan grand bridge, which stretches 1,112 meters in length, is part of the Guiyang-Huangping Highway.
The Yangbaoshan Bridge is the first 6-lane bridge in the world to exceed 300 meters in height. The deck is approximately 320 meters above a reservoir or 360 meters above the original river level.
When it is finally opened to traffic, the Expressway will shorten travel time between Guiyang and Huangping from about 5 hours to just 1.2 hours.
The lower leg of the 186.5 meter tall west tower measures 110.7 meters below the deck making it a unique “suspension-bridge-on-stilts”.
There are only 6 other suspension bridges in the world with tower piers that exceed 100 meters below deck. These included the Sunxihe, Qingshuihe, Honghe Bridge Jianyuan, Dahe, Malinghe Fenglin and Tiger Leaping Railway.
