The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) Ekiti Command has assured residents of  the state of adequate security before, during and after celebration of the  2022 yuletide.
The  NSCDC Commandant in Ekiti, Mr John Fayemi gave the assurance after a crucial meeting with heads of departments, units, area commanders, ddivisional officers and heads of tactical teams at the command Headquarters in Ado Ekiti.
This is contained in a  statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSC, Tolulope Afolabi on Friday in Ado-Ekiti.
Fayemi  maintained that the meeting became necessary to review earlier strategies and make adjustments where necessary to tackle crimes in the state.
He said he had directed that  measures should be put in place  to contain the unnecessary pressures usually associated with the yuletide, which could bring about breakdown of laws and orders.
He directed that all heads of units and departments adopted proactive strategies to forestall breakdown of laws and orderliness by miscreants in the state.
“It is the duty of everyone of us to stand firm this period as miscreants are moving around to steal, defraud and perpetrating other heinous crimes this yuletide.
“Hence, the need to re-strategise becomes expedient so that we can move ahead of them by foiling any of their attempt to wreck havoc in the state,” the NSCDC boss said.
According to him, strategic deployment has been made across the length and breath of the state with special attention to worship and events centers, government Installations,  motor parks, markets and malls.
He also said there would be  motorised patrols, stepped up to accommodate other soft targets, black spots with the support of joint patrol set up Ekiti government which had all the paramilitary and military agencies in the state.
He, however, cautioned his personnel against any form of laxity and unprofessional conduct in carrying out duties, urging them to work within the ambit of the laws of the country.
The Ekiti NSCDC boss also advised the general public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the nearest security formation.
He said that security remained the business of all and the alternative to peace is peace.
He wished Christian faithful in the state a peaceful celebration, urging residents to remain and be law abiding to sustain the relative peace being enjoyed in the state.
