The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday refused to grant bail to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, currently being suspended from the police service, and four others who are being prosecuted on allegations of hard drug trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The Presiding Judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, in his judgement on the bail application, stated that the applicants failed to present sufficient materials and evidence to warrant the granting of the fresh application.
Justice Nwite, therefore, reaffirmed his earlier jodgement on March 28, 2022, ordering an accelerated hearing.
The NDLEA on March 7, arraigned Kyari and six others on allegations of a cocaine deal. Others facing trial with Kyari include four police officers – ACP Sunday Ubia, ASP James, Inspector Simon Agirigba and Inspector John Nuhu who are also suspended from the police service.
