Some stakeholders in the Nigerian project have gone down memory archives for throwbacks on Festus Keyamo’s views on certificate forgery over the years as the raging controversies over the deposition of the Chicago State University (CSU) on the case of President Bola Tinubu’s education document has continued unabated.
Festus Keyamo SAN, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development in the Tinubu administration, had in the case of former President Muhammadu Buhari argued that “forgery occurs when the supposed author of a document denies ever making it or denies its authenticity.
Keyamo also noted that the case of Buhari was different from that of Governor Adeleke of Osun State, in which case he said that WAEC denied the authenticity.
Keyamo had also declared that “…if you present a FORGED WAEC or other certificate to INEC for any office, you will be disqualified.”
“Forgery occurs when the supposed author of a document denies ever making it or denies its authenticity. WAEC has confirmed the authenticity of PMB’s certificate by issuing an attestation of it. Case closed. In #OsunCaseScenario WAEC has denied the authenticity. See d difference?”
“By the definition of “School Certificate or its equivalent”in section 318. of the 1999 const. u don’t need a AEC certificate to become President or Governor, but if you present a FORGED WAEC or other certificate to INEC for any office you will be disqualified.”
CSU: Throwbacks on Keyamo’s views on certificate forgery
The Chicago State University deposition in the court case filed by Atiku Abubakar, the Registrar of the university admitted that the “diploma (certificate) dated June 27, 1979, looks different than the INEC diploma”, suggesting that the two copies are not the same.
In the deposition :- The university denied prepared the June 27, 1979 diploma attached to Exhibit 2; and also claimed not to know who prepared the diploma.

The controversies have generated monumental noise in the polity to the point of discrediting political leadership and damaging national values of Nigeria.
