The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has thrown its weight behind Governor Nyesom Wike over his calls for the resignation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The CUPP, in a statement on Friday issued by its spokesman, Ikenga Ugochinyere, said for the PDP to stand a chance in the 2023 general elections, the party must put its house in order and the first step is to remove Ayu.

“For the PDP to stand a chance in the 2023 elections, the party should do the needful and remove Ayu as his continuous stay in office is creating more crisis, disunity in the party and will hamper the PDP chances in 2023.

“His sack will not only benefit and unite the party, it will also enable all aggrieved members to come together and work for the party’s victory in 2023.

“We call on the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to press it on chieftains of the party and Ayu on the need to save the party from further polarisation and loss of our base in the South.

“This can be achieved by ensuring that PDP National Chairman, Senator Ayu quits the party,” the CUPP said.
