Dangote donates N7bn, housing estate worth N2bn to IDPs

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group and the Aliko Dangote Foundation, provides succor for the victims of Boko Haram insurgency in the North East Nigeria, providing them incentives that would empower them start lives afresh. Accordingly, Dangote developed housing estate known as Dangote Village, for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Maiduguri, Borno State.

National Daily gathered that The Dangote Village is a self-sufficient set of 200 housing units worth N2 billion, which has facilities for learning and healthcare services. Thus, the housing estate is provided with good streets network, school, religious worship centres, hospital, recreational facilities, irrigation farms and poultry farms, among others, to make life comfortable for beneficiaries.

Dangote disclosed that about N7 billion was already donated to provide aides to the displaced persons driven from their communities by the Boko Haram gendarmes in the North East Nigeria. He further disbursed N100,000 to empower each beneficiary to restart productive life.

National Daily further gathered that Dangote promised to be responsible for the financial burden of the salaries and allowances of teachers in the next five years; including taking care of part of the financial responsibilities of the educational revolution launched by the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima.
