Dasuki granted bail at last

At last the National Security Adviser (NSA) to former President Goodluck Jonathan, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, has been granted bail this Fridayby a Federal High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, presided over by Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf. The presiding Judge granted bail to Dasuki and four others standing trial for alleged money laundering and criminal breach of trust.

Others standing trial over a 19-count charge preferred against them include, a former Director of Finance at the office of the NSA, Shuaibu Salisu, a former Group General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC, Aminu Baba ​Kusa, and two firms, Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Reference Hospital.

Bail was granted to the accused in the sum of N250 million on the condition that they produce a surety each who must be a ​serving or retired ​civil servant ​not lower than the rank of a director. The civil servant must also prove ownership of a property within the FCT which has value to the same sum of bail condition.

Meanwhile, Dasuki and the others are expected to fulfill the bail conditions before finally regaining their freedom.

The court ordered all the persons standing trial to submit dublicate copies of their international passports with the court registrar. They are to also notify the court of any travel arrangement outside FCT.
