The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Radda, has won the Saturday election, having 859,892 votes, and defeating Senator Yakubu Danmarke, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had 486,620 votes; candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) had 8,263 votes, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) 4,226 votes, and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), 1,049 votes and the Labour Party (LP) 560 votes.
The INEC State Returning Officer for the election, Professor Mu’azu Gusau, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Gusau, announcing the result on Sunday morning at the Governorship Election Collation Centre, Katsina, highlighted the total votes cast was 1,386, 427, and the valid votes were 1,365,848, while the rejected votes were 20, 579.
Professor Gusau further said that total number of registered voters was 3,516,719; accredited voters on Saturday were 1,399,291.
