Disu reshuffles Police leadership, deploys senior officers to boost efficiency

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved a sweeping redeployment of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force in a strategic move aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, enhancing leadership capacity, and improving service delivery nationwide.

The directive, announced on Tuesday in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, underscores the police leadership’s commitment to reinforcing an effective command structure and ensuring optimal personnel distribution across commands, formations, and departments.

Under the new arrangement, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) have been reassigned to critical departments and zonal commands.

AIG Ado Emmanuel takes charge of Research and Planning at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, while AIG Joseph Eribo heads the Department of Armament. AIG Miller Dantawaye has been deployed to the Department of Operations, and AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche will oversee Training and Development.

Other key postings include AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo to Police Accounts and Budget, and AIG Dahiru Mohammed to Zone 15, Maiduguri. AIG Dankombo F. Morris moves to Zone 4, Makurdi, while AIG Bello Shehu takes over Zone 14, Katsina. AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba will head the Department of Legal Services, with AIG Ahmed Musa assigned to Community Policing.

In addition, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh has been posted to Zone 2, Lagos, while AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom takes over at the FCID Annex, Lagos. AIG Haruna Olufemi will serve at the Special Protection Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The reshuffle also affected several Commissioners of Police (CPs), who have been reassigned to various state commands and formations.

CP Haruna Yahaya has been posted to Jigawa State Command, while CP Betty Otimenyin moves to Welfare at the Force Headquarters. CP Olugbenga Abimbola takes over Oyo State Command, and CP Yemi John Oyeniyi heads Delta State Command. CP Olubode Ojajuni now leads Ogun State Command, with CP Michael Falade assigned to Ekiti State.

Other postings include CP Yakubu Dankaro to Adamawa State, CP Muhammed Ahmed to the Federal Capital Territory, and CP Olatunji Fatai to Lagos State Command.

CP Morkwap Dongshal has been deployed to Taraba, CP Ahmed Bello to Zamfara, CP Umar Fagge to Katsina, and CP Hayatu Shaffa Hassan to Sokoto State Command.

In additional deployments, CP Akan Ezima has been appointed Director of the NPF National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC), Abuja, while CP Abbas Sule moves to the Special Protection Unit. CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue has been assigned to INTERPOL, Abuja, and CP Mnwadiogbu Cletus becomes Deputy Commandant at the Police Academy (POLAC).

Other notable postings include CP Danjuma I. Yahaya to General Investigation at FCID Annex, Kaduna; CP Sheikh M. Danko to FCID Annex, Lagos; and CP Moses Ashu Otta to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit in Abuja.

Further redeployments see CP Abdulrahim A. Shuaibu assigned to the Eastern Ports Authority, CP Sarah Ehindero to Administration at FCID Abuja, and CP Edwin Ogbegbghagha as Provost at Force Headquarters. CP Preye R. Egbe moves to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, while CP Adebisi Bola Lateef has been posted to Master Printing, Lagos.

Additionally, CP Bolou O. Etete will serve in Community Policing under Research and Planning, and CP Ojugbele E. Adebola has been assigned to General Investigation at FCID Alagbon, Lagos.

Among others, CP Fidelis N. Ogarabe has been posted to INTERPOL Annex, Lagos; CP Theodore C. Obasi becomes Deputy Commandant at the Police College, Ikeja; and CP Eloho E. Okpoziakpo takes over at the Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi. CP Kayode Uthman Magaji moves to the K9 unit in Dei-Dei, while CP Markus Ishaku Basiran is assigned to Courses at POLAC.

Further postings include CP Mohammed Babakura to Administration in the Department of Operations, CP Silas Bamidele Aremu to Safer Highway Operations, CP Magaji Ismaila to Community Safety and Crime Prevention, and CP Rebecca Uchenna Okereke as Director of Music at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The Inspector-General urged the affected officers to bring their experience and professionalism to bear in their new roles, emphasizing the importance of discipline, dedication, and service to the nation.
