The Edo State Police Command paraded three suspects, including a native doctor, on Wednesday at the State Police Headquarters in Benin City, in connection with the murder of a 200-level university student.
Faith Omodon, a student of Delta State University, Agbor, was reported missing on May 1, 2024, after she failed to return from a farm in the Ewohon/Uwemen communities in Orhionmwion Government Area, where she had gone with a motorcycle.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, the case was initially reported to the Abudu Division by the victim’s father, Edward Omodon.
Following a preliminary investigation, the case was transferred to the State CID, Benin, where two suspects, Godspower Chukwuedo, 23, and Christopher Nwachukwu, 22, were arrested with the help of a vigilante group.

The suspects confessed to the police that they were hired by a native doctor, Chukwuyem Jonah, 26, who lives in the Iru community near Abudu, to kidnap Faith Omodon and demand a ransom from her supposed wealthy father.
They reportedly promised to pay the suspects N30,000 each for their services.
The suspects further confessed that they were resisted by Faith Omodon, but they overpowered and strangled her to death.
On May 7, 2024, the police arrested the native doctor, Chukwuyem Jonah, in his house, and an investigation is ongoing to recover the victim’s corpse and charge the suspects in court for murder.
The Commissioner of Police advised parents to be cautious about their children’s whereabouts and vowed to rid the state of criminal elements.
