Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have neutralized a suspected kidnapper and rescued his victim in the Egor area of the state.
According to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, the suspect, whose identity remains unknown, ambushed his victim, Iyobo Ighodaro, at gunpoint and abducted him from his silver-colored Mercedes Benz C350 car.
The victim’s family reported the incident to the Ugbowo Police Station on September 15th.
Acting swiftly, a police team led by CSP John Emmanuel tracked the suspects to their hideout in Egor.
During a shootout with the police, the suspect was fatally wounded and later pronounced dead at a hospital.

The second suspected kidnapper also managed to escape with gunshot injuries.
The police recovered the victim’s vehicle, a firearm, ammunition, a cutlass, and three phones.
The victim was rescued unharmed and reunited with his family.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Nemi Iwo, commended the police officers for their efforts in combating crime and warned criminal elements in the state that their days were numbered.
