EFCC arrests 23 internet fraudsters

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed the arrest of 23 persons for internet fraud in Sokoto State, North West Nigeria.

The operatives of the Sokoto Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, revealing the arrest, identified the 23 internet fraudsters as: Joy Ofem, Azeez Naimot, Agabi O. Yusuf, Ibrahim Amodu, Aigbekan Daniel, Adedayo Michael, Iraran Mubarak, Olivine Habiblah, Wasiu Lukman Adekunle, Musa Abdulazeez, Abdullahi Ibrahim, Adegoh Nabiu Mohammed, Ibrahim Mubarak, Ahmed Ibrahim Abdullahi, Abdullahi Sanusi Adejoh, Umar Idris, Muhammad Nuhu, Feisal Ahmed, Aliyu Ismail, Elijah Adebayo, Zakariyau Ibrahim, Balogun Abdulkarim and Buni Husaini.

According to the EFCC, “they were arrested on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Bafarawa and Kalkalawa Estates in Sokoto.

“Their arrest followed diligent observance and intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet- related crimes.

“Items recovered from them include two Toyota Corolla cars, three motor cycles, laptops, phones and a generator.”

The stated that they will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

The EFCC has taken the anti-corruption war to the young generation who have ignored hard work for easy means of getting rich through defrauding others.

Apparently, the surge of internet fraud in Nigeria has increase cyber crime in the country with the use of modern technology.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)has also modified its processes as the commission intensifies efforts to crack down on the surging internet fraud to save victims from suffering loses of their hard earned  money to the fraudsters.

The war has been taken across the country and the EFCC has been producing results in the various geo-political zones, from the North West to the northeast, southwest, south-south and southeast.
