Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted allegations that its X (formerly Twitter) account was hacked.
The anti-graft agency addressed the rumors circulating on social media, stating that the claims were unfounded and misleading.
The EFCC clarified that the account experienced a technical issue while the agency was attempting to update its profile information. The issue has since been reported to X’s support team, and the restoration process is nearing completion.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the EFCC emphasized that its official X account had not been compromised.

“Contrary to such unfounded claims, the Commission’s official X account has not been compromised in any way. While attempting to update certain information on the Commission’s biography on the app, a technical glitch occurred. This issue was promptly reported to the X Support Team and the process of restoring the account is now in its final stages,” the statement read.
The EFCC assured the public that its X account would be fully functional soon and thanked stakeholders for their patience.
The commission also reminded users that all other verified channels of communication remain available for regular updates.
