Super Eagles Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen has set an ambitious target of six points from this month’s doubleheader against Libya’s Mediterranean Knights in the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ademola Olajire, Director of Communications at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Nigeria will host the first match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday evening, with the return fixture taking place at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi, Libya, on Wednesday night.
Eguavoen emphasized the importance of securing six points, stating, “Our best and surest route to the finals will be to pick up the six points in the matches with Libya.”
Currently, Nigeria sits on four points from two matches, one ahead of Benin Republic and two ahead of Rwanda.

A double win over Libya could elevate Nigeria to ten points, solidifying their position in the qualifiers.
Eguavoen acknowledged the absence of key striker Victor Osimhen but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure the necessary victories.
The Libyan delegation arrived at Port Harcourt International Airport on Tuesday, while match officials, including Malawian referee Godfrey Philip Nkhakananga, are already in Uyo.
The first match is set to kick off at 9 PM Libya time (8 PM Nigeria time).
