Former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday lost re-election for the number tow office of the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ekweremadu polled 37 votes in his defeat by Senator Omo-Agege who had 68 votes. The Clerk of the National Assembly announced that 105 senators participated in voting in the election; one abstained while one vote was invalid.
Omo-Agege was, therefore, declared winner and was administered the oath of office ad oath of allegiance by the Clerk.
The Senate was, thereafter, set for business of the year.
