A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna state, led by Shuaibu Idris, has described as laughable, the suspension of Nasir el-Rufai, govenor of the state.
Recall that el-Rufai was allegedly suspended by the faction of Suleiman Hunkuyi, senator representing Kaduna north central, for alleged anti-party activities.
His suspension followed his purported failure to respond to a query which was issued last week.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Yahaya Pate, acting state secretary of the party, said the suspension should be disregarded.
While describing Hunkuyi as an impostor, Pate said most of those in the said faction (Hunkuyi’s) are no longer members of the party.
“The so-called chairman of the faction, Danladi Wada is an impostor; the authentic chairman of the party is Alhaji Shuaibu Idris,” he said.
“He is the chairman recognized by the national leadership of the party. Just last week, he received an invitation letter from the national secretariat, signed by the national chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun, inviting him for national executive committee meeting next week.
“The senator Hunkuyi-led group is illegitimate. As far as we are concerned, most of them have been expelled including the so-called factional chairman, Danladi Wada.”
“As for senator Hunkuyi, he is under six month’s suspension, because we cannot expel him. Only the national leadership can expel him, because he is a political office holder.”
