Niger state chapter of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Shi’ite followers demonstrated over the continued detention of their leader Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky by the security operatives.
Addressing followers at the Minna Centre Mosque, the leader (amirul) in the State, Mallam Ibrahim Khalid Mohammed noted that Sheikh El-Zakzaky, who was arrested along with many of his followers was known for peace and peaceful coexistence in the nation
Calling for the immediate release of their leader and followers, Mohammed explained that the movement, set up 37 years ago, has never been found wanting for any crisis.
“We are also calling for the release of the corpses of the dead for burial. Many innocent souls were killed in Zaria during the face-off with the military and the house of their leader and followers were demolished.”
He described the development as unconstitutional, undemocratic and violation of human rights that has drew condemnation from the International communities.
“Our leader is a patient and peace loving person who remain calm even when two of his sons were killed some time ago, God will not let go any injustice melted on our leader and supporters, release our leader for us,” the Amrul lamented
