Nollywood veteran Chiwetalu Agu has spoken on ageing, urging young people to make the most of their youthful years while also preparing wisely for the future.

In a video shared online, the actor reflected on his early years, emphasising the importance of balancing enjoyment with personal growth and long-term planning.

“Enjoy yourself now that you are young. Old age is full of challenges. It comes with one problem or another, if it is not diabetes, it is high blood pressure; if it is not heart problems, it may be kidney or liver issues, or even stroke. Time waits for no one. Live your life to the fullest where you have the opportunity. Old age is not child’s play,” he said.

Referencing the Bible, Agu highlighted the importance of timing and purpose in life, urging young people to remain grounded in faith while building their future.

“Ecclesiastes 3:1 says there is a time for everything. Old age is best enjoyed when you prepare for it. I am not trying to scare you, I am only saying it the way it is. Hold God tight, treat your family right, and make money. Your bills will not pay themselves. Invest now while you can,” he added.

He further stressed that financial responsibilities in later life can be significantly greater, noting that early planning and discipline are key to avoiding hardship.

Agu’s message has resonated with many, sparking conversations around youth, responsibility, and the realities of ageing.
