The World Trade Organisation has received a petition by the EU against Nigeria.
Director General of the WTO Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday when she visited the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Okonjo-Iweala said the complaint is about Nigeria’s restrictions on milk and dairy products.
She said the WTO will look into the complaint.
She however urged Nigeria to take advantage of the trade remedy initiative in place at the WTO to protect local industries.
CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele said the process to bring milk and dairy producers has been on for six years.
According to him, one of the producers has been in Nigeria for over 60 years, importing the product instead of engaging in backward integration.
