Former Nigerian international Etim Esin has attributed the ongoing delay in Victor Osimhen‘s transfer to off-field issues, particularly his public outburst against former Super Eagles coach Finidi George.

Despite being a highly sought-after striker, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain as the summer transfer window nears its close.

Osimhen, who has been linked with several top European clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, has been valued at €130 million. While Napoli is seeking suitable offers for the player, the Blues remain the most likely destination.

In an interview with Elegbete TV, Esin expressed his belief that Osimhen‘s transfer should not be taking so long, given his exceptional talent and the fact that he is the reigning African Footballer of the Year.

He highlighted the importance of discipline in a player’s career, citing his own experiences with indiscipline.

Esin advised Osimhen to focus on giving back to his community and building an academy in his hometown rather than engaging in unnecessary distractions.

He emphasized that Osimhen’s transfer should have been finalized by now, with the transfer window rapidly approaching its end.

Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, has established himself as one of the world’s most exciting strikers.

His impressive performances, including a 25-goal haul in the 2022/23 Serie A season, have made him a highly coveted player. However, off-field issues seem to be hindering his transfer prospects.
