The Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has called on the public, especially road users near Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, to exercise patience as construction work on key airport roads progresses.

During an inspection of the ongoing roadworks on Saturday, October 12, Mrs. Kuku expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, particularly on the 2.4-kilometre Service Road stretching from the Toll Gate Plaza to Gate 13.

Kuku emphasized the importance of public cooperation to ensure the timely and effective completion of the project, noting that the roads should have been upgraded years ago.

“We need the full cooperation of all road users and the airport community to complete this project on time and to the desired specifications,” she stated.

She also thanked the Lagos State Government for its collaboration with FAAN on the project, acknowledging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s role in facilitating progress.

“This partnership is an example of the kind of productive collaborations we are open to at FAAN. Our goal is to improve the overall experience for airport passengers, and this road is a crucial part of that effort.”

In addition, Mrs. Kuku expressed her gratitude to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, for his leadership.

She credited Keyamo’s guidance and attention to detail as critical factors in the project’s steady progress.

The road reconstruction project includes complete roadway rehabilitation, drainage systems on both sides, sidewalks, and streetlights. FAAN expects the entire project to be completed within nine months, significantly enhancing access and traffic flow around the busy airport.

This upgrade is expected to improve not only airport logistics but also the overall convenience for passengers and road users in the area.
