Ambassador-designate Femi Fani-Kayode has condemned the killing of over 160 Nigerians in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing the perpetrators as bloodthirsty barbarians with no regard for religion or humanity.

Speaking on Thursday, Fani-Kayode stressed that the attackers target both Christians and Muslims, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the violence.

In a post on X, the former Aviation Minister praised President Bola Tinubu for ordering the rapid deployment of troops to the area and called on the Federal Government to establish a permanent military base to secure the region.

“The massacre of over 160 innocent Nigerians in Kaiama LGA, Kwara State, is shocking and condemnable. My heart goes out to Governor Rahman Abdul Razaq and the people of Kwara,” Fani-Kayode wrote.

He added that while the state government is making concerted efforts to curb the violence, some internal collaborators are allegedly assisting the attackers, politicising the situation to undermine both state and federal initiatives.

Fani-Kayode’s statement went further to denounce the attackers as outsiders with no faith: “It is clear that those behind these acts of barbarism and genocide are targeting both Christians and Muslims and this is unacceptable. The killers were not men of any faith but were simply bloodthirsty barbarians from a foreign land.”

He called on all Nigerians to unite in support of the government’s efforts, urging collective action against such attacks: “This is an attack on our fatherland and our people, and we must all rise up, join our hands together, support both the state and Federal Government, and collectively resist it. May the souls of those that were brutally murdered rest in peace.”

Fani-Kayode’s remarks underline growing concerns over security in Kwara State and reinforce calls for stronger military presence and sustained government action to prevent further loss of life.
