Fatal crash in Jigawa claims two, Injures ten; FRSC recovers N2.1 Million

Two people died and ten were injured in a fatal auto crash in Jigawa State, where FRSC operatives commendably recovered N2.1 million from the scene and promptly returned it to victims’ relatives.

Two lives have been lost and ten individuals sustained injuries in a ghastly auto crash that occurred along the Ringim-Kano Road in the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, highlighting the transparency of its personnel in recovering a substantial sum of money from the scene.

Mr. Umar Mas’ud, the FRSC Sector Commander, informed newsmen in “Two people died and ten were injured in a fatal auto crash in Jigawa State, where FRSC operatives commendably recovered N2.1 million from the scene and promptly returned it to victims’ relatives” on Friday that the accident, which involved two Volkswagen Golf cars, happened around 10:40 a.m. on Thursday.

He attributed the cause of the crash to overspeeding and wrongful overtaking.

A total of 13 persons were involved in the unfortunate incident, all hailing from Bareda village in the Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In a commendable display of integrity, the Sector Commander revealed that the Corps’ personnel recovered a significant sum of N2,166,700 belonging to one of the deceased victims and one survivor.

Mas’ud confirmed that the entire recovered amount has since been handed over to the victims’ relatives, a process witnessed by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the area, ASP Abdullahi Ibrahim.

Mas’ud lauded the Corps’ Unit Command in charge of the area for their transparency and diligence in recovering and returning the money.

“It is my pleasure to inform the general public that our personnel were involved in a rescue operation in the Ringim area on Thursday, and during the exercise, the sum of N2,166,700 was recovered,” he stated.

“After thorough investigation with the support of the police in the area, all the money recovered was handed over to relatives of the victims.”

The Sector Commander reiterated the FRSC’s unwavering commitment to integrity and its mandate to serve the public with compassion and transparency.

He strongly advised motorists to desist from overspeeding, wrongful overtaking, and any other reckless acts that could lead to road crashes.
