The Federal Government has announced a new national curriculum for primary, secondary, and technical schools, aimed at reducing subject overload and improving learning outcomes for Nigerian students.

In a statement signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations, the Ministry of Education confirmed that the curriculum review was completed in collaboration with the NERDC, UBEC, NSSEC, and NBTE. The announcement was made on behalf of the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, by the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad.
FG approved new school curriculum
Under the new framework:
Primary 1–3 pupils will take 9–10 subjects,
Primary 4–6 will take 10–12,
Junior Secondary School students will take 12–14,
Senior Secondary School students will take 8–9,
Technical students will take 9–11.
Professor Ahmad stressed that the Federal Government announced curriculum and reform is not only about cutting down subjects but also about ensuring quality, skills-based learning that prepares students for global competitiveness.
