The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the approval of a special train service to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The service, which is part of the federal government’s initiative to ensure a smooth and enjoyable end-of-year holiday experience for Nigerians, will be operated on scheduled passenger trains across the country.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Yakub Mahmood, the Deputy Director of Public Relations for the NRC, confirmed that the directive for the special train service had been issued by the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
Though the full details of the train service, including the exact dates and operational modalities, have yet to be disclosed, Mahmood assured the public that information will be made available in due course.

“The management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), in compliance with the Federal Government’s directive through the Federal Ministry of Transportation, hereby informs the general public that the NRC shall operate end-of-the-year special train services in commemoration of Christmas and New Year celebrations,” the statement read.
The initiative aims to ease transportation challenges for Nigerians traveling during the festive season and contribute to the spirit of celebration.
“We wish all our esteemed customers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance,” the NRC statement concluded.
