FG disburses N5.12bn pension arrears to 90,689 retirees under PTAD scheme

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to clearing outstanding pension liabilities with the disbursement of N5.12 billion in arrears to 90,689 pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).

The disbursement was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by Mr. Olugbenga Ajayi, Head of Corporate Communications at the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).

Ajayi stated that the directorate had completed the payment process, which cuts across all four pension departments under PTAD.

He noted that the disbursement is part of efforts to uphold pensioners’ welfare and deliver on the administration’s pledge to address backlogs of entitlements.

“The payment reaffirms the administration’s commitment to ensuring that pensioners receive their due entitlements in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” Ajayi said.

Breakdown of Beneficiaries:

  • Customs, Immigration, and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD):
    8,626 pensioners received N276.03 million for one month arrears.

  • Police Pension Department (PPD):
    9,681 pensioners received N619.58 million for two months arrears.

  • Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD):
    12,773 pensioners received N408.74 million for one month arrears.

  • Parastatals Pension Department (PAPD):
    59,609 pensioners received N3.81 billion for two months arrears.

The PTAD spokesman emphasized that the directorate remains dedicated to improving the living conditions of senior citizens who contributed to the development of the nation during their years of service.

This disbursement is seen as a major step toward rebuilding trust in the pension system and addressing the financial challenges facing many retired public servants across the country.
