The Minister of Finance has said that the Federal Government is worried over the limited number of Public Private Partnership projects in the country.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, by the Director, Ministry of Finance, Mr Marshall Gundu.

According to the statement, Adeosun said this in a meeting with stakeholders on Public Private Partnership.

She said decades of underinvestment and poor maintenance have left Nigeria’s infrastructure in bad shape, thus PPP was the best way to correct this.

According to her it has become a global trend for governments to partner with the private sector that has the requisite expertise to maintain and elongate infrastructural life span.

Adeosun re-iterated that infrastructural development was critical and in consonance with the present administration’s people’s oriented change agenda.

“Despite the benefit associated with PPP, there are challenges militating against the use of PPP in Nigeria which include limited number of PPP projects that are currently being procured at the Federal level.

” The role of MDAs in the delivery of infrastructure projects, how to expand the use of PPPs to different infrastructure sectors remains a challenge.

“President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration supports PPPs Agenda and pledged that the government will continue to create a conducive environment for PPPs to thrive in the country,” she said.

Adeosun enjoined Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government to submit proposals for projects that could benefit from PPP.
