Fidelity Bank expands food bank initiative to Eti-Osa community, reinforces commitment to fighting hunger nationwide

In furtherance of its mission to combat food insecurity and uplift vulnerable communities, Fidelity Bank Plc, one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, has extended its Fidelity Food Bank initiative to Victoria Island in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The food distribution exercise, held over the weekend, attracted beneficiaries from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds and served as a testament to the bank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its goal of achieving tangible impact at the grassroots level.

The Fidelity Food Bank initiative is part of the bank’s larger CSR strategy, which aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger.

Through this platform, Fidelity Bank continues to address issues of poverty, hunger, malnutrition, and mortality, especially among infants and mothers.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Adebayo Adeyinka, Executive Technical Assistant to the Managing Director/CEO of Fidelity Bank Plc, described the initiative as a long-term commitment to improving lives across Nigeria.

“The Fidelity Food Bank was established to address the pressing challenges of poverty, hunger, malnutrition, and infant and maternal mortality within our communities,” Adeyinka said.

“From Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps to flood-ravaged regions like Niger State, this initiative reaches Nigerians in need across the country.”

Also in attendance was Mr. Henry Asiegbu, Divisional Head of Operations, Fidelity Bank Plc, who spoke on the growing public response and the deepening impact of the intervention.

“This initiative has been well-received by the public, government agencies, and our partners,” Asiegbu noted.

“The support has been overwhelming, and it motivates us to continue and expand this intervention to even more communities.”

The initiative brought hope to many residents in Victoria Island, including women, children, the elderly, and people living with disabilities.

Victoria Olubiyo, a community representative, expressed heartfelt appreciation:

“Fidelity Bank has brought joy to our lives. Even during the no-cash crisis, their ATMs kept working. They’ve provided boreholes, kept their promises, and now they are feeding families. This shows they genuinely care. I hope other banks take a cue from them.”

Another beneficiary, Jerome Igbe, described the gesture as life-changing:

“This means so much to struggling families. I never expected this kind of support. God bless Fidelity Bank and replenish their resources.”
