FINALLY REVEALED: Reason behind Thomas Tuchel’s sack from Chelsea

Chelsea’s former manager Thomas Tuchel like many other football disciples may have been surprised following the sack of the German as boss of the Stamford Bridge club on Wednesday.

Tuchel was shockingly dismissed from his position on Wednesday morning following a 1-0 defeat away to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League as the west London club have since appointed Graham Potter as his replacement.

And while many may have thought that the sudden sack of the former PSG boss was as a result of Chelsea’s defeat in their Champions League opener, it has however increasingly appeared that Tuchel’s sacking was less to do with results and performances on the pitch and more to do with his relationship with Chelsea’s hierarchy away from it.

National Daily gathered from the report by CBS Sports, that Boehly and his fellow directors became frustrated with Tuchel’s lack of help in convincing players to join Chelsea and feel they missed out on signings as a result.

Notable among these failed targets were Raphinha and Jules Kounde, despite Boehly having pushed hard for both signings only to see them join Barcelona.

In the case of Kounde, Chelsea had agreed a fee with Sevilla and Barca’s hierarchy had even resigned themselves to missing out on the Frenchman.

Boehly may have been disappointed with Tuchel’s inability to adequately market Chelsea to Kounde and felt the 23-year-old could be persuaded to snub Barca at that stage – though the German did not seem to share his owner’s enthusiasm over a deal.

Meanwhile, Tuchel must have felt that there were other options he would rather pursue as he eventually signed Wesley Fofana from Leicester City as he may have not been entirely convinced by Kounde.

Unfortunately for Chelsea, that came across to the Frenchman in the brief talks he had with Tuchel and played a part in his decision to hold out for Barca.

Again, Tuchel’s standoffish approach towards the transfer of both Raphina and Kounde to Chelsea in comparison with Xavi, who was in daily contact with the Brazilian and Frenchman respectively in an effort to convince them to join Barcelona may not have gone down well with the Blues hierarchy.

Although the Brazilian’s clear preference was a move to Camp Nou, Boehly felt Chelsea had a genuine shot at signing the Leeds man and were the first club to agree on a fee – though Tuchel lacked a personal touch and seemed to treat the pursuit as a lost cause from the off.

For his part, Tuchel was not particularly fascinated by Boehly either and, according to CBS, felt Marina Granovskaia would have managed to secure a deal for Ajax’s Edson Alvarez on deadline day.
