FirstBank of Nigeria has issued a statement advising customers to ignore recent media reports suggesting an ongoing system upgrade, clarifying that no customer-related upgrades are currently in progress and that all banking services remain fully functional.
As a major player in financial inclusion across Africa and a digital banking leader, FirstBank emphasized its commitment to providing uninterrupted service to its customers.
Folake Ani-Mumuney, Group Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications at FirstBank, explained that the misinterpreted message was directed solely at the bank’s vendors.

The original communication related to FirstBank’s internal upgrade from its I-Supplier Platform—a system used exclusively for supplier management—to a new Cloud-based Supplier Platform, which offers enhanced functionality specifically for vendor interactions.
“All customer applications are fully operational, and there is no system upgrade underway impacting customer services,” Ani-Mumuney confirmed.
“We are not experiencing any service disruption, and customer transactions, banking systems, and channels are unaffected by this vendor-focused platform enhancement.”
FirstBank assures its clients that they can continue to conduct transactions with confidence, as the bank remains dedicated to seamless service delivery. The new platform is intended to enhance vendor capabilities and will not impact customer banking services in any way.
