The Delta Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu, says learning centres have been opened for children displaced by flooding in some parts of the state.
Ezewu said in a statement on Friday in Asaba that the essence was to ensure that schoolchildren would not discontinue learning due to the flooding.
She said that families taking refuge in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps should ensure that their children would take advantage of the centres to continue learning.
”As a government, we are committed to providing quality education for our children.
”Our children deserve the right to access learning and teaching services even in IDP camps.
”Flooding this year is overwhelming. We don’t want children from the affected families to be left behind,” she said.
The commissioner added that the move was part of the SMART agenda of the state government.
