A missing Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Funmilayo Oluwamayokun Lasisi, 39, and her teenage daughter, Sewa Lasisi, have been found dead with mutilated body parts at a suspected herbalist’s residence in Osun State, in what authorities believe may be a ritual killing.

The tragic discovery was reported over the weekend, following several days of uncertainty after the mother and daughter were declared missing in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to family acquaintances, including Facebook user Ayomideji Solanke, the victims were last seen on the morning of Sunday, November 2, leaving their home at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Efforts by family members and colleagues to locate them proved futile, prompting a police investigation. Solanke shared that a family source confirmed the remains were discovered at the home of a suspected traditional healer in an unnamed community in Osun State.

“The mystery surrounding the disappearance of SRC Lasisi Funmilayo Oluwamayokun and her young daughter, Sewa, has taken a tragic turn,” Solanke wrote. “Their bodies were reportedly recovered from the home of a suspected herbalist over the weekend.”

Reports indicate that while the herbalist escaped, his wife has been arrested by authorities.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, confirmed the discovery, noting that the Osun State Police Command has arrested suspects and recovered exhibits, including body parts, linked to the case.

“The Osun command has commenced an investigation, and they have made some arrests. They found some exhibits that are body parts,” Ogunlowo said. “For convenience’s sake, Osun will be investigating the matter, and we will provide the necessary support.”

The primary suspect is reportedly in custody of the Osun State Police Command.

This incident adds to a growing pattern in Nigeria, where missing persons are sometimes found dead with body parts removed, raising heightened concern over ritual-related crimes and community safety across multiple states.

Authorities continue to investigate, urging anyone with information about similar cases or suspicious activities to come forward.
