Armed Fulani herdsmen struck at a school, Ohoror Secondary School in Ohoror Community, Ughelli-North Local Government Area, Delta State, obstructing school activities and injuring many. The Fulani herdsmen were said to have taken their dispute with farmers to the secondary school the farmers were said to be complaining of the farms, and loss of farm produce to cattle grazing.
The Delta State government had enacted Anti-open grazing law, made provisions for ranching, and held several meetings between the Police in the state, the herdsmen and farmers to broker peaceful coexistence, yet the herdsmen continued open grazing destroying farmlands and products. .
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Patrick Muoboghare, during a visit to the school, decried the herds men invasion, assuring that the state government has taken a preliminary step of closing down the school, pending when a lasting solution is reached.
The herdsmen have converted some community women they kidnapped to sex slaves in their hiding camps around the community.
