Fulani militia on endless destruction in Plateau, burn 300 homes, kill 4, displace residents of communities in Bassa LGA

Fulani militia have maintained endless destruction and killing in Plateau State, north central Nigeria. The at the weekend struck in two communities identified as Zanwra and Kpatenvie in Jebbu-Miango, Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State, destroying property and killing residents.

The Fulani militia in the invasion of the communities at the weekend killed four persons, sent hundreds of residents of the communities to ‘displaced camps’, and setting over 300 houses ablaze.

Several other victims were identified to be injured, as the bandits destroyed and looted farmlands.

There was, however, counter uprising by Plateau youth to resist the Fulani militia, and protect their territory.

It was gathered that the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Plateau State Police Command, ASP Gabriel Ubah, acknowledged that the State Police Command received a report of violent clash between gunmen suspected to be Fulani Militia and Plateau youth in Irigwe at Jebbu Miango, Bassa LGA.

The Police highlighted: “Unfortunately, 50 houses were torched, and four natives were also shot dead.

“Upon receipt of the report, the tactical team of the command was immediately deployed to the scene to tighten the security of the area and to restore peace.”

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Egbuka, was accompanied by some senior Officers of the Command on a visit to the scene of the violence. The CP, thereafter, ordered a discreet investigation into the clash and the arrest of the perpetrators.
