Former Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has been given a seven-day ultimatum to resign from his position as National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The demand was made by Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, a prominent member and Chairman of the North-Central APC Forum, during a meeting in Jos, Plateau State.

Zazzaga’s request stems from concerns that Ganduje’s leadership role violates the party’s zoning agreements and internal regulations.

He argued that, as Ganduje hails from the North-West, he should not hold a position that should rightfully belong to a representative from the North-Central zone, particularly Nasarawa State.

Citing Article 31.5 of the APC Constitution, Zazzaga emphasized that Ganduje’s continued tenure undermines the internal democracy valued by the party and has contributed to rising discontent among party members, leading to internal divisions.

Zazzaga has warned that if Ganduje does not resign within the stipulated timeframe, he may pursue legal action.

He has also communicated his concerns to senior party officials, including President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, indicating that the matter is being taken seriously at the highest levels of the APC.

In a formal letter, Zazzaga stated, “In the alternative, I humbly request His Excellency Abdullahi Ganduje PhD to step aside as National Chairman of the party and allow for the appointment of a Fact-finding committee to examine the matter in line with Article 21.3 of the APC Constitution 2022.”

He concluded with a stern warning: “Failure to adhere to the options stated above within 7 days of your receipt of this letter leaves me with no option but to invoke the full amplitude of the law. This I shall do without reverting back to you.”
