Gas explosion at Journalist’s home injures two, newborn in coma

A suspected gas explosion has rocked the home of Nigerian journalist Abdulkareem Haruna, causing serious injuries and leaving a newborn in a coma.

The explosion, which occurred as the family prepared for a naming ceremony, was reported on Monday by counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama via his X account.

The blast, believed to have been triggered by a faulty gas cylinder, tore through the kitchen, injuring two individuals who were present. Tragically, a newborn baby caught in the explosion suffered severe trauma and slipped into a coma.

Makama’s post read, “Let us rally around Abdulkareem Haruna and his family, hoping for the speedy recovery of the injured and praying for the newborn child.”

The incident has sent shockwaves through the neighborhood, with many expressing support and concern for the affected family.

According to the report, two individuals present at the scene sustained serious injuries, while a newborn baby was caught in the blast and slipped into a coma due to the trauma.

“Two individuals present at the scene sustained serious injuries.

“Let us rally around Abdulkareem Haruna and his family, hoping for the speedy recovery of the injured and pray for the newborn child,” Zagazola posted on X.
