PDP’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar met the party’s leaders across the southeast in Enugu on Tuesday, and some prominent leaders, a serving governor and a former one gave Atiku a wide berth.
The meeting hosted by one of Rivers Gov Nyesom Wike’s men, Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was going on when Enugu Sen. Chimaroke Nnamani was somewhere else tweeting the praises of Atiku’s archrival Bola Tinubu.
“HE Tinubu is my friend, brother and colleague. I have great respect for him, his political antecedents and strides in governance. And I am very proud and well pleased with him. Anybody belly aching should go himself,” the senator tweeted.
Nnamani earlier showed up on Tinubu’s 422-man council last week, and it was no mistake.
While Ugwuanyi was present at the meeting, his counterpart and one of Wike’s foot soldiers, Okeizie Ikpeazu, didn’t show up.
The National Daily reported Ikpeazu is among those mounting pressure on the PDP and Atiku to fire party’s chairman Iyorchia Ayu—as Wike’s demands since he lost the presidential ticket to Atiku three months ago.
