Governor  Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, on visitation to ministries, department and agencies (MDAs) in the state, discovered what he considered decay and inefficiency in the administration of the MDAs, and therefore, immediately sacked all political appointees in the administration of former Governor Samuel Ortom left behind after handover on May 29.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, at a media briefing after an emergency meeting of state officials with the governor, clarified that the sacked heads of MDAs were directed to hand over to the most senior civil servants in their offices.
The governor held the meeting with the first five political appointees, including top civil servants responsible for the payment and management of salaries and pensions.
The CPS to the governor explained that the Reverend Alia made the decision after “the last three days of unscheduled visitations by to MDAs, where he uncovered a lot of decay and inefficiency in the management of public utilities.”
Former Governor Ortom had earlier dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC), ending the tenures of commissioners and advisers before the handover to the new administration.
