Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna faces threat of impeachment over intractable insecurity in the state. The youths of Southern Kaduna at a protest in Abuja of the killing of over 40 persons in Southern Kaduna last week demanded the Kaduna State House of Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against Governor El-Rufai over the failure to contain the worsening insecurity in the state.
The protesting youths chiding Governor El-Rufai for perceived leadership failure, requested President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency in Kaduna State, to restore order.
The youths reiterated their demand for creation of Southern Kaduna State from the current Kaduna State that has failed their people.
Several communities in Southern Kaduna have been thrown into bloodbath and theatre of kidnapping over the years.
Residents of the Atyap and other Communities in Zango Kataf, Kaduna State, were invaded by bandits last Tuesday night, leading to the killing of over 40 persons, including an 85 years old woman. It was highlighted that 215 houses, four churches, among other property, have been burnt by bandits in several attacks in the past seven days.
The youths of southern Kaduna became apprehensive over the helpless situations they found in their communities, which prompted their protest in Abuja and demand for the impeachment of Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
