Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, took a calm and confident approach after his side’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, reminding Reds fans of his success in England despite the defeat.
Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah scored for Liverpool in the 12th and 78th minutes, respectively, extending their lead over City to 11 points in the Premier League.
As Liverpool edged closer to victory, home supporters began chanting “You’re getting sacked in the morning” in the 89th minute, a reference to Guardiola’s future at City.
In response to the chants, Guardiola smiled and raised one hand with a single finger, a gesture to highlight the one Premier League title he has won with Manchester City since his arrival.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Guardiola expressed surprise at the chants from Liverpool fans, saying, “I didn’t expect that at Anfield.
