The Guri Local Government Council has successfully completed a one-week outdoor spraying exercise aimed at eradicating mosquitoes and other insects in the area.
The Mosquito fumigation campaign, which took place between August 24 and August 31, targeted drains, culverts, and other mosquito breeding sites across the 11 wards of the council.
According to the Information Officer, Alhaji Fahad Muhammad, the Mosquito fumigation campaign exercise was part of the council’s efforts to protect the health and well-being of its residents.
The acting chairman, Mr Muhammed Gudaji, emphasized the council’s commitment to safeguarding the environment and urged the community to participate in regular sanitation practices.

Residents were advised to dispose of waste properly, avoid blocking drains, and sleep under mosquito nets to protect themselves from malaria.
The Head of Water and Sanitation Department, Mr Bashari Hassan, encouraged self-help groups to continue participating in monthly environmental sanitation exercises.
The council’s initiative complements the state government’s efforts to combat malaria and ensure the safety of children and pregnant women in the area.
