National Daily had learnt from the previous reports that Tottenham were exploring the possibility of appointing former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel as they consider their options ahead of the likely sacking of Antonio Conte.
The Italian tactician, who returned to Italy earlier this week in the wake of his astonishing attack on his own players, was again absent from first team training yesterday, adding to the mounting speculation that Daniel Levy is primed to end his turbulent 16-month spell in charge.
Meanwhile, Conte’s job may have been saved as Tottenham’s hope of replacing him with Tuchel has been dashed with Bayern’s hierarchy moving decisively to appoint the former PSG boss as replacement for Julian Nagelsmann who had been out of work since he was sacked at Chelsea by Todd Boehly in September.
The development may force Tottenham to have a rethink on Conte’s potential sack unless they are able to readily identify another possible replacement for the former Inter Milan boss.
Meanwhile, National Daily understands that former Bayern boss Nagelsmann has been left stunned by the club’s decision to sack him with the Bundesliga giants still in contention to win the treble.
However, it was gathered from the report by Sky Germany, that Bayern chiefs grew concerned at the way in which the club have surrendered their domestic dominance this season given they won the title last term by eight point and 13 points the previous year.
Moreover, the lack of progress made by the club’s young players, including the likes of Jamal Musiala, has caused alarm while Sadio Mane’s struggles since his high-profile move from Liverpool has been attributed to Nagelsmann’s management style.
With Bayern facing a such a decisive period, the final straw came when the former Hoffenheim coach opted to take a skiing holiday during the current international break, rather than remain at the club and work on a strategy that would see the club through such a testing period.
