General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), a former military president, has retraited his support for and candidacy for a young president in the 2023 election.
He claimed that the youths share Nigeria’s founding father’s ambition of realizing the country’s goals.
When a 40 year old All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential hopeful, Adamu Garba, paid him a visit at his Hilltop Residence in Minna, Niger State’s capital, Babangida stated.
Babangida praised the aspirant’s bravery, saying he had always trusted in the youths ability to assume power and face the realities of world crisis.
“You are the guys who are going to make sure that our founding fathers’ vision for Nigeria is realised, “he remarked, i have always believed in our capabilities.
” All you need to know is get out there and mobilise individuals of like thoughts and age grouping, “the former military officer said to the presidential candidate.When we first entered politics and governance, many of us were around your age.
Garba told reporters following the meeting with Babangida, that he was in Minna to seek Babangida’s blessing, councel and support, as well as to inform him of his decision to run for president in the 2023 elections.
