The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, on Monday decorated newly promoted Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), urging them to strengthen intelligence-led policing and improve operational coordination across the country.

The decoration ceremony took place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja and formed part of ongoing leadership restructuring within the Nigeria Police Force aimed at enhancing national security operations.

He emphasised that closer cooperation among security institutions remains essential to addressing Nigeria’s complex security challenges.

The Inspector-General noted that synergy between the police, the military and other law enforcement agencies would significantly boost operational effectiveness in tackling crime and maintaining public safety.

He also reminded the newly promoted DIGs that their elevation comes with increased responsibility to provide strategic leadership, enforce discipline within the ranks and ensure that policing operations remain professional and accountable.

The police chief further reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to deepen ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening intelligence capacity, improving operational efficiency and restoring public confidence in law enforcement.

The decoration of the new DIGs is part of broader efforts by the police leadership to reposition the force for more responsive and technology-driven policing as the country continues to confront evolving security threats.
