Registrants in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) have expressed delight over what they described as the quick and seamless registration process in Enugu metropolis.
A correspondent, who monitored the exercise in the city on Monday, reports that the process has recorded significant improvement.
The development shows that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has overcome its initial connectivity challenge.
Mr Obiora Ude, 46, who registered for the first time, said he was happy with the approach adopted by INEC to save time.
Ude said the online process, which precedes the facial and finger print capturing and collection of registration slip at the INEC centre, made the exercise less cumbersome.
“Before coming here today, my experience was the long delay at the CVR centres each time I presented myself. But today that jinx is broken.
“Within 30 minutes of arriving at this centre, I went through the process and also got my registration slip.
“I am also impressed with the conducive and spacious environment provided for the physical CVR by INEC,” he said.
Another registrant, Mr Obumneme Ozoude, who came for transfer of voting location, described the process as “seamless”, saying it took him barely five minutes to complete the process.
“I can now afford to attend to other engagements of the day because the exercise was seamless and time-saving,” Ozoude said.
Miss Ogechukwu Nnamuno, a new registrant, commended INEC for deploying well-trained and courteous members of staff to administer the physical CVR.
According to Nnamuno, the INEC staff members behaved courteously like bank workers.
“This shows great improvement to push the electoral process forward,” she said.
