The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa Ari, who announced illegal result of the governorship election in the state during the 2023 general elections, has been revealed to flee Nigeria to Niger Republic, and evading prosecution.
The Investigating Police Officer (IPO), CSP Moses Jolugbo, was said to have informed the Adamawa State High Court that Yunusa-Ari had gone into hiding since he made the illegal announcement of result.

The presiding Judge of the Adamawa State High Court, Justice Benjamin Manji, was aid to have mandated the Nigerian Police Force to produce the REC on or before the adjourned date of November 23.
Counsel to INEC, Rotimi Jacobs, on the resumption of the case on Wednesday, demanded the court to issue a warrant of arrest against the fleeing REC.

Meanwhile, Usman Suleiman (SAN) registered his appearance as counsel to the fleeing REC, Yunusa Ari.
The counsel, Suleiman, told the court that Hudu Yunusa Ari, his client, is not in Nigeria but in Niger Republic.
The presiding Judge, Justice Benjamin Manji, directed the counsel to produce Yunusa Ari within two weeks, before adjourning the case.
