Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged the Department of State Service (DSS) to name and arrest the “misguided” politicians plotting to install an interim government after the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.
The Department of State Services (DSS) had in a statement on Wednesday revealed that “the plot to set aside the constitution and install an interim government by “misguided” political actors is real.” The DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, had in the statement, disclosed that some key politicians involved in the plot for an interim government in Nigeria have been identified. The Security Service assured to use all arsenals at its disposal to frustrate the plot for an interim government.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Yabagi Sani, speaking on Channels Television, expressed that ‘it is not enough for the DSS to announce a plot for interim government’, saying that the Service should ‘go further and name the plotters as well as take action against them’.
Sani, therefore, challenges the Department of State Service (DSS) to name and arrest the people it said are planning to install an interim government after the general elections.
Yabagi Sani emphasised that Nigerians cannot do anything with the information the DSS has revealed, and, therefore, challenged the DSS to arrest the people identified to be involved in the plot.
Yabagi Sani had on Channels Television declared: “To say the least, it is an embarrassment because I believe that the DSS, the agency that is in charge of gathering intelligence and then passing intelligence to other agencies, are supposed to take action. And I don’t think it serves the purpose of this country for the DSS to come and make this pronouncement in the manner they are making it.
“What would have made sense to us is that so person is involved, so person has been arrested or is under interrogation or whatever action has been taken. Okay, what do we do as politicians or citizens of this country? We can’t do nothing.”
