An overnight attack on the Abraka market in Asaba where no fewer than four persons died and several others hospitalized has been pinned to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.
The market is largely peopled by the Hausa in Delta’s capital city.
They claimed the attackers were members of IPOB though no group has taken responsibility for the attack.
Nobody has been arrested by the police either.
IPOB was declared a terrosist organisation Friday, hours before the Southeast Governors Forum also proscribed the Nnamdi Kanu-led separatist group.
The Abraka attack, according to report, happened about 11 p.m. on Friday when armed men numbering over 20 invaded our mosque at Cable Point and threw an explosive into the mosque.
The attackers later moved to the market and killed for persons.
The casualties could have been more had soldiers and policemen who received distress calls nit intervened, and routed the attackers.
Delta Police Commissioner Zanna Ibrahim said the situation was now under control, adding that the command has reinforced security in the areas.
There have been series of clashes since the Nigerian Army clashed with IPOB in Aba during the week.
